Microbiology Portrait

My final year coursemates and I posed for some formal photographs late last year, and these are some of the shots. I only managed to get the digitalized form this morning, from Beth's laptop. The pictures were taken by a professional company, who charged us RM12 for an A4 sized picture, with our names, faculty, course and the university logo printed on it.

An informal shot, with the guys trying to be funny. Beside me is my best friend Caroline.

Another unrehearsed shot. I like this one because everyone is unprepared and spontaneous.

The real formal shot. I'm not hard to spot.My friend Hidayah is in the front row(sitting) showing off her strappy heels. Asilah and Akmal are 2nd and 3rd from left in the front row. Hunny Bunny is 2nd from right in front row( one of those rare moments she's not in Jeans and T-shirt) and Caroline is beside me. Emma, love guru extraodinaire, is top row ,extreme right. These are my closest in the course.

Misty Wet Weekends

Two Crazy weekends in a row. What a joyride!
First of, H20(Tsf water carnival)last Sunday(8/1/06):-
Awesome. I was preparing for it from New Year's Day. At first, lots of people just weren't keen on the idea.Partly because of their own this and that, partly because Ikatan Kristian UPM's Annual General Meeting fell on the same day, albeit at night.I was so worried no one will turn up and no one will sign up for games etc.
I guess I need to trust God more. I was saying to Him after a few dissapointing replies that-- Lord, You are the one that brings people, not us. We may speak/cajole/ blackmail them into coming but truly You are the one that changes their hearts. And guess what? on D-Day itself, a whole busload of UPMers turned up with their friends!
The whole preparation business itself was exiting. The Saturday before, we had service and TSF as usual(with Ps. Daniel sharing on C.o.S.T., the tSF vision/theme).Stayed back quite late for a whole load of announcements on H20 and the Upm retreat (which I just came back from). Finally reached home at 11.00pm and straight went to bed.
Next morning, woke up at 5.50 am and proceeded to pick the game stall volunteers up from their colleges/ homes. We had to be there by 7.00am, hence the early thingee. A miracle was none of us overslept. All punctual.Even Andrew didn't need me to wake him up, he was up even before I miscalled. After that, drove to Bukit Jalil family park following the sketchy map by Timothy(thanks), and almost went astray when Anne and Andrew argued about one particular turning(I didin't bother, just turn only).Anyway, finally got there and put the stall up,then Yee Leng and gang appeared.Games finally began at 10.00am and all was Fun, Fun ,Fun! from then on.Several highlights:
- Amy dancing Sumazau during dance competition(penguin, penguin)
-Joseph Raj getting dunked in the dunking machine.( by Wei Xin, no less)
-Deric soaking me through by pouring a pailful of water on me ( and others, he got taruh later-lah, haha)
-Ps Daniel getting floured, egg-ed and wormed in the dunking machine.
-all the new people we met.(Especially this Bryan fella who kept on scoring full marks at the stall i was doing)
-Green curry on meehoon, which was part of eating competition.
- A GIRL won the tough challenge, which was tough!( Doreen was in it too. You Go, DOng!)
All in all, many showed up, and at the end of the day, to God be the glory. And of course the comittee deserve an applause too( Esther and gang rocks!)AT night, even though we were tired, we went for AGM.Again another miracle, we managed to fulfill the quorum.

In between the weekend:
Monday night- Campus CG in Cheryl's K2 room. There were 11 of us, and strawberry tea with cookies for supper after.
Tuesday night- Surprise birthday party for Joseph,we UPMers drove to his house in Tmn Sri Sentosa , and the rest is history. Thanks to Mel and Lake(TSF's hottest new couple) for organizing this.
Wednesday night- Prayer meeting in church.
Thurs- Met a group of Koreans that my Korean language Sir brought from his former church in Busan. My sir is a Christian see(presbytarian).Anyway , the team that were mostly kids came and sang/danced/talked with us.I had a one on one during lunch( we were to take them out for lunch) with Kim Sung Hee Seongsangnim who was one of the few adults there. She was in her 40s, and I found out from Jung sir that she was a leader in the Ladies fellowship in their Busan church which has about 40,000 people. She was so happy that I was a believer too, that both of us cried/laughed and hugged each other at the cafe itself.Apart from that, I learned a Korean blessing song, and some pronounciation.

This weekend Just Past:
Last Friday: The DAY for TSF UPM retreat has arrived.Gathered at KMR bus stop at 7.30pm with fellow TSF UPMers and some friends.Had dinner and took the bus up to Peacehaven, Genting Highlands. Arrived at about 10.00pm, had a short briefing by Amy(Yay, Amy, camp commandant extraordinaire). Then retired to our rooms/dorms. I shared a room with Mel, Dong, Yee Leng(Curly) and Wendy. Later, Amelia too.Hung out with these ppl plus Lake, Joseph and Eunice until about 1 a.m., then went to bed.

Saturday: Was woken up by Mel and Dong's squeling/gigles (they were attcking each other on the double bed, and then proceeded to attack Yee Leng who was on top of the bunk) at 7.00 am.Had breakfast, and a session with Ps. Chiew Har (Yc leaders were there too) who spoke on positioning ourselves to see Christ. Afternoon Games were fun, each group had to eat 500g of biscuits, celery with cencaluk, and Kopi-o with no sugar.Fastest group wins.Next was newspaper dress-up/cat walk. All the models were really good( Gina, striptease?!!What?)After that, a group of us went up to Genting Theme park, First world Hotel area. None of us went in to the outdoor theme park because it was expensive(RM 37, mahal siut!)and because of time. Amy, Wendy and me bought teh tarik(RM3?!!)/milo and sat down sipping it at First World plaza. We walked around, and bought some unique things not found on level ground.(It rhymes!). At night, Joseph shared on the early church. After supper, a bunch of us went outside and hung out in the cold until about 1 am. when amy herded us all in.Amy herself came to my room and hung out until 2 am. We were singing crazy/funny songs like Curly's "ONe Way....Ticket". and Chin Chia Ho, Pai xin Ya so chin chia ho in english.

Sunday(This Morning): Ps. Mike Raj spoke on remembering why we are here. After that, lots of picture taking, and revealing our Angel/Mortal identities.then back down to earth! and reality!
Retreat Highlites:
- God
-Caroline came!
-Eugene and Moses dressing up as girls.
-Celery in cencaluk
-Korean chocolate
-Amy dancing her famous sumazau dance/stumbling into rooms/lameness/etc.
-Doreen switching of lights because she doesn't want to change in the toilet.
-All the speakers!
That's all. Now it's back to the drudgery of exams, test, quizes and projects!

Their newest addition, Aidan.Born on the19th of December 2005 .Wonder what izzit with Liz, Jason and Scottish names?

Elizabeth Teh nee Heng is a long time friend of mine and her children really mean something unique to me. It means I'm no longer a kid.I'm officially an adult. You see, I've known Liz since I was a baby(well, maybe not that early) but as early as I can remember I've known Liz. I have a yellowish photo of her at my first birthday. Back when the photo was taken, Liz was still in primary school, and I was a toddler hanging on at her knee. Now, 20+ years later, we're still friends, and she's the proud mother of two beautiful sons. I got to know her husband Jason when I was in primary school, and they were already in secondary.

I know also that her children mean a lot to her, because of her difficulty in having them. Now they're here.  Congratulations Liz, and *hugz*.
